Classy Cards Merry Christmas

I designed this card for the latest Classy Cards 'n Such challenge Candy Cane Christmas.  I hope you can come join us and play along.  I started by looking through my Christmas papers and new dies.

This card came together quickly.  These new Sue Wilson dies are so versatile.  I didn't realize when I ordered them that there were so many possibilities with them.  I love how they give you the option of having a mat behind the beautiful scroll design.

First I cut a piece of red card stock 1/4 inch smaller than my 5.5 x 5.5 card.  I cut the Bo Bunny Mistletoe paper to a 5 x 5 square and glued them down. I used red paper to cut out the Sue Wilson French Collection - Provence mat.  I used the smaller of the two shaped dies in the set to back the red scroll design with a white mat.  I used Joy! Foam Pads to attach the center to the patterned trees paper for dimension.

The green center of the scroll design was cut with the smaller shaped die from the French Collection - Provence die set.  The green center was raised using Joy! Foam Pads. The top tag layer was cut from white card stock from the Sue Wilson French Collection - Corner, Border & Tag dies.

I used the die as a stencil and sponged red distress ink in the center.  The die creates little raised dots around the central oval and I added red flat-backed pearls for a little glam.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is a stamp from my stash.  I think it's from Hero Arts and I'm not sure it's still made.

Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see your Candy Cane creations!

Classy Cards Hello Fall

I designed this for the latest challenge at Classy Cards.   Hope you can join in the colors of fall challenge.  I began this card by looking through my card stock.  I was so inspired by the plaids in the inspiration photo.

I found this pretty plaid paper in the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss paper pack.  I cut out a rectangle of the paper using Spellbinders Matting Basics A set.  The center oval was cut out with the largest Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large.

I matted then matted the plaid paper onto a rectangle of green card stock which was also cut out of the Spellbinders Matting Basics A set.  The center of the green paper was cut with the largest oval in the Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small set.  I stamped the Stacy Stamps The Woods stamp using Memento Brown ink and then colored it in with a Copic E31 marker.

The leaves from the Impression Obsession Small leaf set were sponged with distress ink to give them a natural appearance.  I cut the Hello out of the new Impression Obsession Greetings set and also dabbed distress ink over the die cut.  I love these greetings dies, they are so versatile.

Before I put everything together I popped the Vintage Bliss card stock up using foam dots to add dimension.  I glued the green paper to the white card base, added a bow out of ribbon from my stash and then glued Impression Obsession Leaves around it.  I decided the card needed something extra so I sponged distress ink over the white base layer and the edges of the Vintage Bliss paper to add some visual texture.  Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see what you make for this challenge!

Classy Cards Trellis Blossoms

Hi friends! I just received this great Memory Box Trellis die from Classy Cards 'n Such and couldn't wait to start playing.  It could make a wonderful backdrop for so many things.

I folded the cardstock to an A2 size and then unfolded it before running it through my Big Shot, making sure not to cut out past the top fold of the card when cutting the trellis.  I then glued an A2 size piece of green card stock behind the front of the card.  The trellis was glued in place on the green cardstock while the glue was still wet to ensure everything lined up nicely.  I had to push the white cardstock ends a little closer together to surround the trellis so it was good that I did this all in one step.

I cut the Bella Bouquet flowers twice out of heavy white cardstock and then colored the stems and flowers with Copics.  I outlined the flowers in a pinker tone and colored the centers with a lavender-pink.  I colored both sets of flowers but was more careful with the flowers that I knew would be popped up on top.  I then cut the stems off one set of flowers, covered those with glitter from a Wink of Stella pen and then used Joy! Foam Pads to pop up the flowers on top of the others.

The sentiment is from a Flourishes set and I used the Spellbinders Splendid Circles die (did you know Beverly at CCNS can special order Spellbinders dies?) as a stencil with pink Distress Ink to shade around the words.  Thanks for looking!

Classy Cards Merry Trees

Hi, this is my design for the current Classy Cards 'n Such challenge.  The challenge is Polka Dots and I hope you can come join us this week for a chance to win a great prize!

I started with the paper.  Most of my Christmas polka dot papers were a little too overwhelming but then I found these beautiful papers in my Authentique Tradition Stack.  The tiny dots look like falling snow.

The trees were cut from green card stock using Impression Obsession's Evergreen Trees die.  The die cuts three trees but this card needed another so I cut the smallest one twice.  Two of the larger trees were popped up with Joy! Foam pads to create dimension.

I cut the word Merry out of red paper using Impression Obsession's Alphabet Plain Upper Case die.

The Memory Box Sparkling Snowflake Corner die cut was covered in Stickles.  I also glued tiny rhinestones to the centers.

I cut the circles using Spellbinders Large & Small Classic Circle sets.  I cut a hole in the ornament paper with the larger die and then cut a hole out of red card stock with the smaller die and glued the pieces together.  The panel was popped up with Joy! Foam Pads to create the little scene inside the circle.  It reminds me of a snow globe.

Thanks for looking!

Classy Cards Bouquet of Thanks

Hello!  I made this with the  Classy Cards 'n Such "Think Pink" Challenge in mind but just couldn't get the time needed when I needed it.  I had already colored this beautiful image so I finished it anyway.

I stamped the JustRite Floral Vintage Labels Two stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the flowers in with Copics.  I wanted to add a little glam so I went over the center of the flowers with clear Stickles.

I cut out the main image and then popped it up using Joy! Foam Pads onto a piece of Simple Stories Vintage Bliss paper that I'd cut with a Spellbinders Labels Twenty die.  I thought the die had a similar shape and framed the image well.

I cut a piece of Graphic 45's Botanical Tea paper using the Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A die and then wrapped a piece of pink grosgrain around it.  I then backed the Botanical Tea paper with a piece of green paper that I colored with a Copic Green Bice marker to better match the color of the leaves.

The Thanks die is from the Impression Obsession Greeting Set.  This is a perfect set for card makers, the font is simply beautiful and the words are so versatile, I find that I've been using it on everything.  I covered the die cut in versamark ink and then sprinkled it with Silver Fine Detail Embossing Powder.  I heat embossed the word and then repeated so it has two layers of silver embossing powder.  Double embossing made the word look so smooth and it now looks like metal.

Last, I thought it needed something else so I added three pink flat-back pink pearls in the upper left side. I also tied a piece of silver cord around the grosgrain ribbon.  Thanks for looking!

Classy Cards Novel Friends

Since so many of my friends were English majors and book lovers I had to get this Impression Obsession Bookshelves CAC stamp.  The MFT Books stamp set has some wonderful sayings and coordinates perfectly. The Claudette Frame is from Poppystamps.  It makes such a lovely delicate frame.  This is a 5" x 5" card to give you an idea of the size.

I was able to make a few of these cards in a snap.  The cover a card background stamp was stamped once using disress ink and cut with a Spellbinders Classic Square Small die.  The background stamp is so large that I was able to cut out four squares out of the Bookshelves image.  The two gray card stock layers were cut to fit with my paper cutter.

I sponged the edges of the bookshelves with distress ink.  To create the sentiment tag, I stamped the saying and centered the Grommet Tag die over it before cutting.  Then I used the grommet die as a  stencil and sponged distress ink over it.  I used gray pearls on the tag to pick up the color of the gray card stock layers.  Thanks for looking!

Classy Cards Pine Bough

Hello!  I was so inspired by the colors in the Classy Cards 'n Such challenge photo this week.  I loved those beautiful decorated cookies.  If your like me and have some holiday supplies sitting not getting much love, pull them out and come join us in the challenge this week for a chance to win a great prize.

I started by cutting white and Kraft card stock panels with the Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A die. I had a very different card in mind but it wasn't quite coming together so, I pulled out my Bo Bunny Mistletoe paper pad, saw this beautiful red patterned paper and went a different direction.  I cut a piece of the red paper and layered it in between the two I'd cut using the Spellbinders Matting Basics A die.  If I'd had the Matting Basics B die I would have used that instead.  These dies really make lovely mats.

I cut the Memory Box Snowflake Ornament die out of white card stock and pressed it into a Versamark ink pad, making sure to ink the die cut well.  I sprinkled silver embossing powder over the sticky inked side and then heat embossed the die.  It gave the die cut such a nice finish.  I then cut a Memory Box Classic Ornament die out of the same Bo Bunny Patterned paper that I used for the background panel and glued it behind the snowflake ornament.

I cut two Impression Obsession Pine Branch branches out of a dark green card stock.  I glued one down and then looped a piece of silver cord through the second before gluing it on top but slightly offset of the first die cut.  I offset the branches to create more depth and texture.  I curled up many of the pine needles to add a realistic look.

I tied a bow in the silver cord and then tucked the other end behind the ornament that I popped up using Joy! Foam pads.

I should probably have done it earlier, but I stamped the white panel with the Inky Antics Sentiment from the Bird Bath and Feeder Stamp Set and then glued all of the card layers in place.  The top white panel was also popped up higher using Joy! Foam Pads to add extra interest.

Last, I cut an Impression Obsession Bird out of red card stock and nestled him between some pine needles to go with the sentiment.  Classy Cards 'n Such carries a similar set of bird dies in the store called Memory Box Resting Birds.

Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see your challenge entries!

Dies R Us Halloween Tag

Hi!  This is my tag for the newest Dies R Us Challenge Gift Tags Challenge.  I hope you can join us this time around for the chance to win a voucher to the Dies R Us Store!

I decided to create a Halloween tag because I couldn't wait to play with my new Impression Obsession dies.  It's so easy to great a great looking card or scrapbook page with this Halloween Hill die.  The elements can be cut off and used independently or left alone as I did here.  This is actually only part of the scene as I cut the sides to fit on my tag.

Except for the scene and "Boo" which were cut out of black card stock, the rest of the images were cut with white card stock and colored by blending distress inks.  The background was sponged with distress ink and blended by spritzing water over the orange, yellow and brown colors.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out our latest challenge.  My teammates did an amazing job with their tags.  I'm so inspired to make more!
