KKS Little Mermaid

I made this for my daughter's friend.  The birthday girl had a Little Mermaid movie party and my six year old wanted a card that went with the theme. 

I'm not sure I love the color of the bottom layer but I was in a rush to finish and get it in an envelope.  I love glitter on cards but without my daughter's insistence it probably would have ended up without that too.  Thanks for looking!

KKS Eliza

Eliza is from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and this is my first time inking her up.  My Fair Lady is one of my all-time favorite movies and it's based on the play Pygmalion.  I couldn't imagine using this image without somehow also using black cardstock.  I don't use a lot of black on my cards (except for Halloween) so this was kind of fun.  I'm not sure pink was the best accent color but I seem to be using a lot of it lately. 

I stamped Eliza with Memento ink and colored her with copics.  The centers of the MFT layered roses are tiny rolled roses from IO's Spiral Flowers die.  I cut the Memory Box butterflies from black cardstock and covered them in platinum stickles for a touch of old-world glamor.  I used Wink of Stella in clear on the umbrella and the feather in her hat.  I added lines of clear stickles on the white stripes on her hat, on the dots of the border die and on the white flowers on the vine.  The tiny rolled roses also have dots of clear stickles in their centers.

Birthday Princess

Hello!  I combined my new Magnolia gate stamp and Magnolia Event Flag die with dies from my stash and this is the result.  I discovered this Paper Pretties Lady Sofia stamp while hunting for Boy Scout stamps.  Scout stamps are difficult to find and Cooper from Paper Pretties is one of the cutest.

I'm often drawn to girly stamps and I justify my enormous pricess stamp collection with the continuous need for frilly birthday cards for my 6 year old's friends.  I hope they still like princesses as teenagers!

I first stamped Sofia on a piece of scrap paper to use as a mask.  I cut her out carefully and removed all the negative space (under her arms, etc.).  I used tiny dots of repositional glue to hold the mask in place while I stamped the fence image on top.  I removed the Sofia mask and then stamped her in black.  She's a clear stamp which made positioning easier. In retrospect, I probably should have stamped her first, masked over her and then stamped the fence.  I wouldn't have had to be so careful about positioning.

The flowers were created from an older Cuttlebug die. I colored them with copics and added rhinestone centers and yellow stickles.  I stamped a second image of the gate stamp and cut out the open flowers, colored them with copics and popped them up with foam tape.  I added yellow stickles to the centers for sparkle.  I also used my Wink of Stella brush over all the pink flowers and added some to Sofia's gown and hat for extra shimmer.  The butterflies were made from a cottage cutz butterfly vine die.  After coloring the butterflies with copics I also coated their wings with yellow stickles.

Enchanting Garden

This was a lot of fun to design.  Impression Obsession has gorgeous dies and EVERYTHING on this card is from IO.  I was inspired by a photo of sempervivum I saw on pinterest.  I love the varied colors and textures and have added a nice little collection to my garden over the past few years. 

I thought the little IO rolled roses from the Spiral Flowers die would make perfect sempervivum.  The hanging yellow "sedum" was created using the Leafy Branch die.  I rolled each of the "flowers"  with a quilling tool and used foam tape to add dimension.  After I had adhered the buckets and sempervivum to the card I decided cut my background with the spellbinders label 8 die.  Since the little sempervivum were already attached I ended up pressing all my little rolled hens & chicks.  I considered rolling new ones but realized the sempervivum looked possibly more realistic flattened.  It really brought out the copic coloring.  You can see below what my in-progress photo looked like before running it through the big shot. 

The smaller metal bucket was made by cutting the bottom off a second IO bucket die cut.  The buckets were colored with Copics and then the sponged with distress ink.  I cut the Enchanting Day tag freehand with a scissor and brushed distress ink on the edges.

Finally, I added shimmer. Lots of it!  I used my new Wink of Stella brush on the hollyhocks and edges of the tag. It might be difficult to see in the photo but there is also a line of shimmer that follows along the top edge of the white layer.  This card really glitters and my daughter tells me it would be perfect garden for a fairy.  So the next card I make with shimmering enchanted hollyhocks will include one.  :)

I was so excited to discover this lotus flower die.  It reminds me of a water lily.  When I was little I had a packet of water lily seeds.  I'm not sure they ever germinated but I remember being fascinated by the large seeds that could be planted in water.  I think the flowers could be turned into different types depending on how they are colored.  Next time maybe I'll pair them with mermaid stamps.   It may be difficult to see but the leaves really do shimmer.  The green scallop was a last minute addition but I think it was needed for visual balance.  Thanks for looking!

IO Flowering Tree

I love Impression Obsession dies - especially those Spiral Flowers! I also find myself using the leafy branch die on everything lately. 

First, I cut the tree and colored it with my Copic markers.  I then cut leaves from the leafy branch die, colored them with Copics and glued them onto the tree.  I cut more branches in blue and weaved them into the grass. I liked the added pop of color of the blue leaves behind the orange roses. The peachy-orange roses and yellow flowers were created using the Spiral Flowers die and were colored with distress ink.

For the yellow flowers I only used half of the tiny rolled daisy die. After the yellow distress ink dried, I cut the daisy die cut in half before rolling it. I used both halves of the die cut. It thinned the flowers out a little and made them a little smaller.  The flowers are small but I was afraid of overpowering the tree.  It may be difficult to see but I used flower soft in small spots on the branches to emulate buds.

Magnolia Princess

I made this for my daughter's friend.  My 6 year old is still very much in the princess stage.  :)  I'm not sure it shows in the photograph but the large rose shimmers.  I sprayed shimmer spritz in frost on the assembled rose and the centers of the small rolled roses have stickles.  There is glitter on Tilda's crown and she has a pearl necklace made from perfect pearls.

Teal Flowers

I has this flower stamp created from an image I drew.  I thought it would be fun to have some of my doodle's made into stamps.  It took me a long time to find a place that would make stamps (especially just one or two), but I found out that Impress Rubber Stamps does.  I sent some images I'd drawn and they came back mounted on wood blocks with my designs pasted to the top.  They are not red rubber, but the photopolomer is very crisp and I get great impressions every time.  I need to take these stamps out more.

I colored the flowers with Copics and I used stickles to add some glitter to the flower centers and the layers are popped up with foam tape.  Thanks for looking!

Spring Bunnies

Die cutting really is my favorite technique!  I used the  Impression Obsession Rabbit Set Die and the Impression Obsession Twig Wreath Die Set to create the central images.  I colored the bunnies with Copics and then covered them with flocking. After coloring the wreath with distress ink, I cut it apart (since as I was playing with it I thought it worked better as a nest).  The other dies used for the curved mat are from Spellbinders.  The scalloped circles are also spellbinders dies.  I created the pennant using a scalloped punch.  The yellow ribbon is from Michaels.  I added distress ink using my Judkins color dusters on the white circle behind the bunnies.  Thanks for looking!

Hatteras Lighthouse

The technique I used was watercoloring using distress inks.  I stamped the lighthouse image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock.  Then I colored the image with copic markers before layering different colors of distress inks on the background.  I then spritzed the image with water so the colors blended together.  I added more distress ink on top over the sun so it would be more vibrant. 

After the distress ink dried I glued it to a white mat that I had cut a semi-circle out of using a spellbinders die.  I glued the white and water-colored layers together and cut them using a spellbinders curved matting die. 

The scallop was created using a Spellbinders Picot Circles die.  I cut out the center out of the picot circle with another Spellbinders circle die so just the picot edge remained.  I then glued this delicate edge around the image on top of the white cardstock layer.  I finished the card by layering the main image on top of pink and grey mats also cut also from the Spellbinders Curved Matting set and then used a Stampin' Up corner rounder punch on two of the card edges.

IO Lacy Layers

Hello friends!  The technique I used on the card is die cutting.  Three of the layers are die cut.  I used Impression Obsession's Leafy Branch and Spiral Flowers dies.

For the yellow flower I cut five of the tiny rolled daisies from the spiral flowers die.  They were colored with distress ink in squeezed lemonade. I let them dry before rolling them with a quilling tool.  I attached the daisies to the card using clear Zots. They were mounted close together to resemble one large flower.   

This is not a color combination I usually choose but I liked the crispness of the blue and yellow against the white.  Hope you like it and thanks for looking!
