Dies R Us Peacock Pride

This is my "Anything Goes" DT project for the brand spankin' new DiesRUs Challenge Blog!  The very first challenge launches today - "Anything Goes Using Dies".  Come on over to the challenge blog and join the fun! Challenges will begin on the 1st and 15th of each month.   The winner will win a gift voucher to the DiesRUs store and the Top 3 will get a badge to display on their blogs.  Our wonderful Team leader, Darlene, also has an amazing giveaway on her blog.  You can check it out HERE.

I stamped the peacock in blue and green memento inks, cut out the bottom of the feathers, and pulled these feathers through the Spellbinders Gold Labels Four die before using the die to cut/emboss/deboss around the rest of the peacock.  I used Labels Four as a stencil and brushed distress ink around the edge of the image, then I removed the die and rubbed blue distress ink on the embossed frame with my finger.  I covered the entire image with shimmer using a Wink of Stella brush, added glitter to the peacock's belly and glued rhinestones to his tail.

The teal flowers were made with a Spellbinders Rose Creations die.  They were cut with white cardstock, then colored with turquoise Glimmer Mist and blue Smooch Spritz.  While still damp, I layered the roses and then scrunched them to get that crinkly, worn look.  I glued them together and added the rhinestone centers after they dried.  The La-La Land rolled roses were also colored with green and gold Glimmer Mists before I rolled them with a quilling tool.

The Pippi butterflies were cut out of teal paper and covered with clear stickles.  The Memory Box Darrington Corner was cut from white cardstock, dyed with blue smooch spritz then folded in half to create the swirls. I "found" a feather from my daughter's boa and dyed it with peacock feathers distress ink.  It's hard to see in the photo but it's right above the blue fun fur yarn.

The Memory Box Whimsy Circle die was covered with clear iridescent embossing powder and heat embossed.  I tried to make everything sparkle since peacocks are showy birds and the person I made this for requested a "bling-ed out" card.  Hope it's glitzy enough.  Here's another look:

What an absolutely stunning card this is. I love the peacock and whilst the butterflies are not the main focal point they add to the overall look of the card and I especially like the shimmer on their wings. Thank you for fluttering by for #6. Hugs Mrs A. (butterfly challenge).
p.s.
Going to have a look at the new challenge now.

This project just blows me away. You captured such detail and elegance here. Such amazing touches. I'm a huge fan of butterflies, and the butterflies here enhance the most amazing image of the peacock. Thank you so much for joining ScrapbookerPhD's Bling Challenge.
