Hello! This is the inspiration card I designed for the new "One for the Boys/Father's Day" Challenge at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. Hope you can dust off those dies and join us for some fun! I'm constantly amazed by the store - they've added a ton of dies from new companies and have free shipping over $35 in the USA and $50 internationally. DIES USED
My oldest son was born on Father's Day just a few hours after my husband's birthday. Father's day and my husband's birthday are often one and the same so this card may end up being a combined card. My husband loves to BBQ which works out nicely because I love to eat what he makes. :)
This was a fun to design. I cut a piece of cardstock and then scored it to get the fancy fold. I wanted to use my Studio G stamps (which I'd bought a long time ago with the intention of making my husband a card) and my Memory Box Grill Masters die but I wasn't sure after folding this card how it was all going to come together. The patterned paper is from a kitchen themed mat stack I found at Joann's.
The Dad banner was cut freehand. The letters are from a great little alphabet set from Impression Obsession. They are a perfect size for card making. I wanted the flag to look like an award. You can only see the word "Best" when the card is open.
The white edge is the "extra" from a Cheery Lynn lollipop die. It's such a great flower die and I've been using it over and over but I thought the remnants looked interesting too. Most of my border dies were too feminine for this. I liked how it added texture and dimension.
