Classy Cards Happy New Year!

Hello, it's Jenny here today on the blog with you.  I hope you are all enjoying the holidays with family and new crafting goodies.  I've been making more step cards lately and thought with the upcoming New Year it was the perfect time to share this one with you.

The base of the card is a black step card made with the Step Card #3 die.  I cut rectangles out of white and blue-green patterned card stock to brighten up the card.  The Champagne Bottle is one of the fun new shaker dies.  I can't seem to get enough of these, they make creating shakers a breeze.  The Mini Happy New Year and Mini Champagne Bottles inside are also some of the new accessories that come in the shaker kits.

I cut the Champagne Bottle Shaker and the Happy New Year die out of silver glitter paper.  It is so sparkly in person but the photos unfortunately don't do it justice.  The Happy New Year die was matted on a piece of white paper cut with the Rectangle Scalloped A2 Set and then backed with another rectangle of card stock colored with distress ink to match the flutes from the Celebration Die.

Cheery Lynn Joy to the World

Hello friends!  It's that time of year again and for the first time this season there was snow on the ground this morning where I live in NY.  I planned to make a Christmas tag, but the result ended up being snowier than I'd expected.

I began with a tag from my stash.  I glued Bo Bunny paper to the tag and then cut the edges.  The purple strip at the bottom is a coordinating paper from the same pack.  Joy to The World was cut using the same purple design paper.  The smallest snowflake from Snowflake Set 2 was cut with another design from the pad.  I wanted the Fancy Reindeer to stand out so he was cut out of metallic paper.  The edges of the large Snowflake Delight 2 were lightly colored with distress ink. I positioned the different elements and glued everything down, sprinkling rhinestones around the snowflakes and wiping on a glittery paste on the sides to resemble a dusting of snow.

Cheery Lynn Merry Christmas!

Hi friends!  I have a Christmas card to share today.  I was inspired by this beautiful Merry Christmas die.  It's large and needed a large card to show it off well.  I used a classic red and green color scheme and cut the Poinsettias out of a patterned paper from an old Christmas stack.

I began by layering another patterned paper on top of a 5.5" white card base.  Then I added a white mat before gluing the Merry ChristmasHolly Lace Flourish  dies and Poinsettias.  I cut the poinsettia strip die twice to get enough for the arrangement I wanted.  The Holly die was also cut twice out of a dark green textured card stock.

Last I added pearl centers to the flowers and a glitter paste.  I also sprinkled dry glitter over the paste while it was still wet because it's a new supply for me and I wasn't sure it would be sparkly or white enough.  As one of my DT sisters recently said it's the season of glitter and I don't think you can go overboard during the holidays.  I sprinkled some white Frantage embossing powder in the corners for a little extra interest.

Cheery Lynn Best Wishes

Hi everyone!  If you are in the US I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I needed a baptism card last week and made a card similar to this, I thought the white on white would work well for a wedding or shower card too.  It's difficult to see in the photo but the cream colored card stock has a beautiful metallic shimmer that adds an elegant touch.

I began with a 5.5" card base and then layered a square of white card stock cut with the Circle Pierce & Cut Tool.  I then added a shimmery layer cut with the Square Scalloped LG Stacker die.   Last I added the Quadrafoil Square Doilyand the Best Wishes also cut with shiimmery cream card stock.

Cheery Lynn Christmas Arrangement

Hi, today I'm sharing a Christmas card I created with some new-for-me dies.  I saw a card online that inspired me and I knew I needed to find a candle die so I could make a Christmas floral arrangement.  Cheery Lynn had the perfect candle die!

I cut the candle three times using white paper.  I used a combination of yellow and orange glitter glue to create the glittery flames.  The frame is a new die for me too.  It comes in a set and makes such a delicate addition to this card.  I wanted the card to feel as though the flowers were almost popping through a picture frame, bringing a Christmas painting to life.  I'm not sure I managed that look exactly but I think I'll be using this frame die often in future projects.

I created the flowers using the poinsettia die.  The holly leaves came from the Holly Leaves die and the pine branches are the larger two branches from the Pine Branches die set.

Cheery Lynn Cool Dude Shaker

Hello!  I'm sharing a masculine clean and simple style card using the new Cheery Lynn Shaker Dies.  I used the Star Shaker for this card and the Pierced Star dies.  The points on the pierced stars are less rounded but the neon green color unites them visually.

The shaker pieces inside are from the Mini Happy Birthday and Mini Confetti sets.  They work really well together. The Confetti shakers are made up of circles, squiggles, squares and triangle shapes.  I couldn't find my beads (it's always when I need something I can't seem to find it!) but along with the confetti and Happy Birthday I would have also liked to incorporate some beads into the shaker.

These shakers are so simple to create with the layered dies and they really create an extra wow factor on a project.  My kids just LOVE them.

Cheery Lynn November Release Blog Hop - Shaker Collection!

Hi crafty peeps!  Welcome to the Cheery Lynn Designs November Shaker Blog Hop!   I am so excited to show you one of Cheery Lynn's fun and versatile new Shaker Dies.  Check out my teammates blogs along the hop so you can see more in action!  If you arrived from Debbie's blog you are on the right track.  If not, you can head back to the main blog HERE to start from the beginning.  Make sure to stop back at the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog and comment there for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate.

For this card I created the shaker first using this tuturial .  I've made shakers before but having the dies to cut a perfect foam backing makes this so neat and easy.  I've never seen anything like the shaker pieces either.  They are so cool!  They are a shiny thin metal and they are tiny (perfect for shakers) but they have so much detail.  I used both the Shaker Mini Happy Birthday and the Shaker Mini Confetti die that came in the kit.  I have enough left over for at least one more shaker, if not two.

I used an A2 card, cut a piece of patterned paper using the A2 Frames Rectangular Scalloped set, and then built the card from there.  I layered the You Are Awesome sentiment four times.  I needed contrast between the patterned papers and layering it also added another dimensional element to the card.  To finish the card I added som yellow glitter glue to the candle flames.

Cheery Lynn Happy Halloween

Hi, today I'm sharing another Halloween card.  I just love playing with these new Cheery Lynn Halloween dies!  This card was simple to put together but the glitter paper on some of the die cuts really adds a beautiful glitzy touch.  I started with a 5.5" square card base.  I layered black and patterned card stock on top.  Then I cut the largest square out of Square Frames Set in black.  The inside is lined with a smaller purple square to pick up some of the purple color from the patterned card stock.  I cut the Skeleton's accessories out of other fun papers.  I don't know if it's visable in the photos but his bow and the tombstone are super sparkly!

The one die I changed a bit is the Horizon Fishtail Banner die.  I ran half of it through my die cut machine and then stopped before finishing.  I then moved the die down, being careful to line up the little scallops and then ran the flag side of the banner through to create a smaller than normal banner shape that would fit my card better.  The Happy Halloween sentiment is from the Witch's Skirt die set.

Cheery Lynn Christmas Shaker

Hello!  It's Jenny here today sharing a Christmas shaker card. I had an idea that I wanted to use the Inverted Scallop Oval Stackers and this card developed from there.

I started by cutting a Inverted Scallop Oval  into a white A2 top-fold card.  I then cut a piece of red card stock with a smaller oval from the Classic Silver Large Oval set so the red would show through behind the white.  I then glued a piece of Clear Acetate from the new kits and put foam tape behind it.  I trapped sparkly snowflakes in the oval window before sealing the back with tan patterned paper.

The white card front seemed too plain so I trimmed red patterned card stock to 1/4 inch smaller than the A2 card front and cut the center out with a large oval.  The card front is decorated with a tree from the Build a Christmas Tree set and presents from the Whimsical Christmas set.

Cheery Lynn For Someone Special

Hi, it's Jenny posting today with a card I created after being inspired by a piece of patterned paper.  I layered a piece of blue card stock behind the patterned paper and then glued them to an A2 card.  I created the central flower using the Black Eyed Susan Strip die.  The die comes with a center that you roll with a quilling tool or maybe around a stylus or toothpick.  The center of the flower adds interest and texture.

The white flowers are from the Sweet Christine die and all of the foliage is from the Floral Bouquet Kit.  It's one of my new favorite foliage dies.  I really like the leaf shapes and the variety that is included.  It's perfect for any floral cluster.  Last I double layered the Whimsical For Someone Special sentiment.  I added the white card stock offset behind so the blue would stand out more.  The background paper was overpowering the words without the extra white behind.

Cheery Lynn Happy Cat-o-ween

Hi, today I'm sharing a Halloween card featuring one of the new Cheery Lynn Halloween dies from the new Fall and Winter release.  This cat is perfect for Halloween but would be really cute on an all occasion or birthday card too.  It has a little spider dangling from it's tail but it's so simple to snip that off.

I used a die that normally makes  flower centers to create the black flowers.  They are from the Embellishment #1 die and I love how light and airy they are.  The yellow-green flowers are small Tea Roses that have been embellished with green glitter glue and the black centers are from the Embellishment #2 die set.  The white flowers are Dandelions, I added them in for a pop of color and I like the texture.  I used them instead of adding leaves.

I cut the doily once out of black card stock and then the center of the doily out of whit paper.  I cut it out with a Classic Circle die from the L4 set.

Dies R Us Leaves Challenge

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog!  Life has gotten busy with school again and I need to focus more time on academics and my kiddies.  I've made the difficult decision to step down from my very first DT position at Dies R Us. I'm very sad to leave but today's post will be my last.  There is some amazingly wonderful talent and heart in the design team.  I will miss the challenge blog and will be visiting regularly.  I hope you will do as well.

Today's card was inspired by the new Dies R Us Leaves in the Trees Challenge that begins today.  For this card I used three Cheery Lynn dies.

Dies R Us Dies
Cheery Lynn Winter Holiday Words
Cheery Lynn Classic Circles L4

I cut a large circle and stamped it with a wood grain stamp.  The card is A2 sized.  The really cool thing about this card is the Blessings die.  It's part of the Cheery Lynn Designs Winter Holiday Words set and I don't have anything else like it in my die collection.  I love how it just almost embossed-cut out the word.  It's a very simple, graphic die.  Love it!

These leaves cut the same way, there are really interesting swirls cut into them.  They were cut out of white card stock and then colored with distress ink.

Cheery Lynn Thank You!

Hi crafty friends!  I have another quick card to show you today.  I made this using flowers I'd pre-made during free time this summer.  I started with a white card base, then layered pink card stock under the black that was cut using  the Lattice Circle Frame.

I cut a two circles from the Classic Circle Stackers L4 set and then glued the Thank You Sentiment Circle on top.  The flowers were created using Judys Blooms and the centers are from the Embellishment #2 Set.  The small white accent flowers are the Dandelion die.  I used this die very often, it's such a great accent when you want a little texture or color but it's more delicate than leaves.

Cheery Lynn Boo!

Hi friends!  Today I'm sharing another Halloween card.  I just can't get enough of these new Halloween dies.  I began this card by cutting the centers out of black and patterned papers as well as the main 5.5" card front.  I glued a piece of orange paper to the inside front of the card.  I was originally planning on suspending the spiders between the layers for a 3D effect with an open front but my planned changed when I decided to use a greater variety of these fun spiders.

The spiderweb is from the Spider Net set, the three spiders are from the Whimsical Spiders set, and the Boo is from the Ultimate Halloween set.  I double layered Boo! to add a little more orange and it offsets the other spiderweb on the left nicely.

Cheery Lynn September Release Blog Hop - Gift Cards!

Hi crafty peeps!  Welcome to the Cheery Lynn Designs September Gift Card Blog Hop!   I am so excited to show you some of Cheery Lynn's amazingly beautiful and versatile new Gift Cards.

I made this little gift card using the new Decorative Window Gift Envelope.  I decorated both the envelope and the card.  This die set comes with the main die to create a little envelope, a square to cut a little insert card, plus a number of other little accent dies like the adorable birds in this card and the flower.  There are even a few more dies included that I didn't use.

This was so fun to make and I hope this has inspired you to give it a try.  These cards are perfect to put on a larger card (as Eva did), add to a small gift or use in a gift bag.  The Happy sentiment came from the Winter Holiday Word Set.

I embellished the back of the little card inside with the Thinking of You Square die.  It fit perfectly! Below is the card front with the little blue flower in the corner.  It's a single panel that I cut using the square die from the set.  It would be simple to cut a folded card though like some of my teammates did.

Cheery Lynn Spooky Ghosts

Hello!  Today I'm back with a Halloween card inspired by some ornaments I saw in a craft store.  I thought Cheery Lynn's doilies made a perfect background.  I'll probably make more to hang on my mantel or from my chandelier but this one I thought I'd add to a card.

I created the background by taking an A2 sized top fold card base and adding black card stock and then a layer of green polka dot card stock on top.  The Cheery Lynn Dot background that I used in my New Year's card HERE would achieve a similar look.  I ran a strip of purple dotted paper a third of the way down for a little added interest before gluing the doily.

The edges of the black Royal Scandinavian Oval Doily sparkle with black glitter glue as do the edges of the ghosts' wings from the Ultimate Halloween Set.  The oval popped up with foam adhesive was cut using the smallest oval from the Classic Oval Stackers set.  I cut the heads of the ghosts twice so I could put in black faces.

Dies R Us Gone Fishin'

Good morning!  Today I'm back with a card featured on the Dies R Us Challenge blog.  The new Summer Vacation challenge begins today.  I don't do a lot of fishing but my husband and sons go when they can so fishing makes me think of summer.

For this card I used three Cheery Lynn Designs dies.  I colored them all with distress ink and actually cut the tip off the fishing pole because it's so long.  This is a 5.5" card, this die would be perfect on a scrapbook page but I'm a card maker and I love the detail on the fish that come with it.

Halloween Owl

Good morning!  Today I'm posting the first owl card I made.  It's similar to the previous post but I switched up a couple of the dies I used and the colors are very different.  The stamp is from IndigoBlu.  I stamped it in black on white card stock and then colored the background with a blending tool and distress ink.  I mounted the imae on black cardstock and distressed the edges of the frame.

The dies used are all from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I used the Spider Net in the corner, the Witch Hat, the Key from the Lock and Keys set and the Pierced Banner,

Cheery Lynn Happy New Year!

Hello!  I created this card using only three Cheery Lynn dies, it has to be a record for me only using three dies.  The new Happy New Year die makes such a graphic, bold statement on projects that I didn't need to add a lot to this card.  I began by cutting the Happy New Year die in a silver metallic paper and then again in black.  I offset the two die cuts and glued them together, sandwiching a little bit of blue card stock under the hats.

Then I created the background by taking an A2 sized top fold card and adding a layer of black, then a layer of blue and then a white layer cut with the Lattice Circle Frame background die.  After the layers were assembled I played around with the Pierced Star dies, cutting the centers out using smaller star dies from the set. I added two rhinestones last after popping the sentiment up with foam adhesive for dimension.

Cheery Lynn Hedwig Halloween

Good morning!  My daughter requested I make a Harry Potter card for her friend's birthday.  I enjoyed making it so much that I made a second using different colors.  Here it is...

I stamped the owl in black and then used distress inks to color the background.  I stamped the owl twice and cut one out which I then used as a mask when I colored the background.  I didn't use tape to mask, I just held the cut out owl in place over the "good owl" as I sponged color onto the background.  The card base is an A2 size.  I layered black card stock, then a design paper and then framed the stamped image in black too.

I added two Spider Nets, a little dangling spider from the new Whimsical Spider set, the key (using wings from the Dragonfly #13) and the Witch Hat.  I embellished the die cuts with glitter glue, rhinestones, white frantage embossing powder on the side of the card and dragonfly wings, and silver frantage on the key.
